Mirlande Manigat
Mirlande Manigat (born in Mirlande Hyppolite in Miragoâne, on November 3, 1940) is a Haitian politician and candidate in the 2010 presidential election. She is the wife of former president Leslie Manigat.[1]
2010 Election
Mirlande Manigat is the presidential candidate for the right of center Rally of Progressive National Democrats (RDNP) party. On October 18, 2010, Dr. Manigat also received the endorsement of the Collectif pour le Renouveau Haïtien (COREH).[1]
Her platform for presidency includes a focus on education of the youth of Haiti, and lifting the long-standing and restrictive constitutional conditions on dual nationality.[2] She specifically promotes opening government positions for members of the Haitian diaspora. Manigat also aims for a more independent Haitian state, one less reliant upon and subject to foreign governments and NGOs.[1]
Like 2010 presidential candidate Michel Martelly, Manigat initially called for November 28, 2010 presidential votes to be canceled given the widespread allegations of fraud in the first round, but backtracked after reports surfaced that she had polled well.[2]

CNN The Haitian people need your help. The same thing that happened last November will happen again in Haiti. The corrupted government is trying to steal the people’s voice. The people voted for Michel J.Martely, but the government is trying to give it to Mirlande Marnigat. The Haitian people need the media to pass on its voice. The people only want to get out of this situation they are in right now. They’re looking for a person that they believe in, not an intellectual that they only hear about when they got an election. They’re trying to belittle him because he used to rude things when he was an artist, but this not what the people want. However both have bad reputation . Mirlande Marnigat was not Nesly Marnigat’s first wife. If they dig her biography they should find a lot of bad things about her. During the earthquake in Haiti when the American Government reached Haiti, President Preval did not give any kind of money to help those people. Until now those people do not even have a shelter to live. During the cholera epidemy , it was a shame to see how those people suffered and died right in front of the government. The government did not provide anything, the red cross had to go there and help, but the government had money to spend for Jude Celestin. The government wasted all that money for nothing because the people did not let that happen. Now they’re trying to do the same thing. They’re trying to steal the power from Michel Joseph Martely. This is totally unfair because most of the people voted for Michel Martely not for Mirlande Marnigat. Those intellectuals are only there for corruption. The people want a democratic government where they can be a part of the government. Mirlande Marnigat elected for senator before she rejected it because her Husband did not win the presidential election. Michel Martely is the only person that the people trust, They believe he’s against corruption. Please the international community have to be concerned, they have to get a fair result. They’re tired of corruption. Please give those people what they want to relief their pain. Thank you. The Lord will help the world including Haiti.
